TODAY'S VERDICT, 5/19/20

Assemblywoman Karine Reyes and State Senator Julia Salazar were our first two guests this week.  Our viewers have asked that I have their representatives on our show during the pandemic.  Assemblywoman Reyes discussed the resources available for our undocumented immigrants as many have concerns during the pandemic. Many of the undocumented are highly represented in the essential workforce making them at a higher risk for exposure to COVID-19.  Senator Salazar has introduced a “relief for all” emergency housing bill. It addresses the economic hardship on New York tenants, homeowners, small businesses and others caused by the COVID-19 public emergency. Finally, Bernadette Jentsch, an attorney with “mobilization for justice”, helped us understand the “workplace justice project” and how unemployment insurance has been impacted during this crisis.
Keep emailing my producers with suggestions:  Marivid@Bronxnet.org.  Yesenia@Bronxnet.org.  Last night’s show is now online:

Next up, Elder Law Attorney Ronald Fatoullah helped our viewers understand The Cares Act and how our local senior citizens can benefit from a stimulus payment and no penalty for failing to withdraw from their retirement accounts this year.
And finally, two guests from The Marshall Project were here to discuss COVID-19 testing in US Prisons and the lack of information that is being provided to the public.
The show was aired last night and is now online:

TODAY'S VERDICT, 3/17/20

Our viewers have asked me to continue interviewing our NY Representatives.  My pleasure. The guest this week was Senator and Democrat David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Westchester) who represents the 38th District in the New York State Senate.  Senator Carlucci and I discussed the new law that he sponsored that allows 16- and 17-year-olds to fill out the voter registration application online or at a local Department of Motor Vehicles office in advance of their 18th birthday.  It is a significant boost to our younger generation and their desire to be heard. Also joining the show are two young community activists who hopefully will inspire anyone in the 18-25 year old demographic to get involved.  All this and more. We read all our emails.  Keep them coming.  The week’s Today’s Verdict with David Lesch is now online:
