This morning I continued discussing Landlord/Tenant rights. Todays installment focused on the tenant. To understand what obligation your landlord has to you as a tenant, pull out your lease and review the document. If you don't have a lease the Court will expect a landlord to make "reasonable repairs' and honor your "warranty of habitability". David Lesch

This morning on "Open" I began a new series: Landlord and Tenant rights. My first installment, understanding residential leases. Most people do not know the definition of several words in a standard lease. Words such as "covenant". I gave the host a quiz. He failed miserably. As most of the community would. The best advice. Bring your lease to attorney for review of the "fine print". David Lesch

On tonight's BronxLegal we discussed our nations attempt to identify the undocumented. Immigration is clearly a topic with many layers. This evening we attempted to tackle the controversial senate bill, 1070. Thank you to our immigration expert: Attorney Aglaia Papadopoulos-Vlantes. And of course thank you to Assemblywoman Vanessa Gibson. She presented me with a wonderful citation from the New York State Assembly. A night I will never forget! David Lesch

This morning on "Open": my final installment of "dangers to children and laws that protect them". Cheerleading has now become a sport, so, as with any sport, injuries come along for the ride! The question is: is your child's school doing enough to protect the cheerleading squad? What are the qualifications of the coach? Is there a mandatory spotter? Floor mats? All important questions a parent should ask. David Lesch

The internet is a dangerous place, especially for children. Since 1996, Congress has passed several laws that try to address sexually explicit materials found on the net. But most have been found unconstitutional. I discussed this morning on "Open" ways to protect your child from sexual predation found on the internet. The best advice: spyware. And make sure you counsel your child on the dangers lurking behind each chat room wall. David Lesch
