Law A-Z Series, "Letter P".

Do you take your "oath" seriously when asked to?  Well, a notary had better make sure that you do.  We take notaries for granted in New York State.  It's a very important function and a job that must be taken with respect.  This morning on the tv show "Open" I discussed "oaths" and why swearing to an oath and confirm that you really are who you say you are is so important when it comes to legal documents.   Tune in tonight at 10pm, Cablevision channel 67 for the rebroadcast.

Because of the advancing age of nursing home residents, I tend to see a rise in Nursing Home Liability.  This morning on the morning show "Open", I discussed the types of claims against Nursing Homes and the defenses often asserted by the insurance company for the facility.  Watch tonight at 10pm for the recablecast, Channel 67 Cablevison, Channel 33 Fios.

Municipal Liability.  This morning on the tv show "Open" I spoke of the "rules" which are unique to municipal claims.  A lawsuit against a municipality involves preliminary legal requirements, which can be fatal if not complied with.  I also reviewed a sample "Notice of Claim" which must be served on the municipality within 90 days of the event.  Very important!  Watch tonight for the recablecast!

Law A-Z Series, "Letter L".

There is no area of law more engaging than cases brought pursuant to NY Labor Law 240(1).  The law renders an owner or general contractor absolutely liable for a violation of the statute resulting in injury.  If this criteria is satisfied, a worker's comparative negligence is no defense.   On today's morning show "Open", I summarized the statute for our Bronx viewers!

It's time to get back to my A-Z Law Series!  Unfortunately I am up to the letter "K".  Not so easy finding a legal topic that starts with "K".  However, "Kidnapping", especially when it comes to natural parents and custody issues certainly is an interesting topic.  So this morning on the TV show "Open" I gave advice on what steps to take if you are afraid that your child's other parent will take your child away without your consent.  Tune in 2nite to the recablecast:  Channel 67, Cablevision.

What a day!   On the morning show "Open", I postponed my Law A-Z Series to discuss the recent Supreme Court decisions that have transformed three fundamental social institutions:  marriage, education and voting.  I discussed the four major cases that concerned same-sex marriage, affirmative action in higher education and the fate of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.  Tune in 2nite for the recablecast!

The use of social media by attorney to research potential jurors has been a hot topic as of late.  Jurors themselves would also like to use various means to make sense of the case they have been chosen to sit on.  This morning on the tv show "Open" I continued my A-Z legal series.  Yes, you guessed it, "J' is for "Juries".

What better than "Immigration" when looking for a legal topic that begins with the letter "I".  Our immigration system is broken.  That is why the "Bipartisan Framework for Comprehensive Immigration Reform" is so important.  I discussed the nuances of the bill on the TV show "Open".  Watch tonight at 10pm for the recablecast!
