Pregnancy discrimination, unfortunately, is alive and well in our country! On the tv show "Open", this morning I discussed the Pregnancy Discrimination Act and the various ways to protect yourself in the workplace. Remember, it is illegal for most employers to discriminate against you because of pregnancy, childbirth, or conditions related to pregnancy or childbirth. David Lesch, Esq.

It's a new year so that means a new legal series on the morning show "Open". Today I began a series on discrimination. Most of the discrimination I will be discussing over the next few months deal with the workplace. Employment Discrimination laws seek to prevent discrimination based on race, sex, religion, national origin, physical disability, and age by employers. A hate crime is also known as a "bias-motivated" crime and occurs when a perpetrator targets a victim because of his or her perceived membership in a certain social group. This morning on the tv show "Open" I discussed the two forms of "hate crime", a topic that will be discussed in greater detail on next week's "Today's Verdict".

Legalization of marijuana is always a great constitutional law issue. The Federal Government attempts to use the "Commerce Clause" to regulate and punish those who produce cannabis.
