With the happening of the Connecticut tragedy, specifically the shootings in Newtown, the "Gun Control" debate begins anew. Today on the television show "Open", I spoke about gun policy and politics. I believe the nation is ready for a major change, and the Supreme Court might be ready to hear the cries of the American people.

This morning on the tv show "Open", I continued my Legal Series "Law A-Z", focusing on the letter "C", specifically the legal topic: "Conflict of Laws". I asked the viewers a question: Should domestic Judges consider international decisions when reaching their own decisions back home? I will be getting emails all day! Sometimes starting over is a good thing. This morning I began a new legal series on the tv show "Open". Law A-Z. Fittingly, let's start with "A", as in "Admiralty" law. Boating in NY may seem like just fun and games but NY State takes it very seriously and there are laws that must be obeyed if you are operating or are a passenger on a boat. Plastic Surgery covers both reconstructive and surgical procedures. On this mornings tv show "Open", I was able to continue my medical malpractice series with a detailed discussion on the hot topic of mistakes occurring during this type of surgical procedure. Continuing with the medical malpractice theme, I have noticed that there has been a degrading shift from person to patient. People feel resentful with good reason. Today on the morning show "Open", I discussed the trend to make hospitals a wee bit friendlier. It certainly would help in preventing disgruntled patients and, consequently, medical malpractice suits!

This morning, on the tv show "Open", I concluded my Employment Discrimination series. The final installment consisted of a review of the Fair Labor Standards Act. In 1938, Congress passed the FLSA to provide a minimum standard for wage payment and a maximum standard for work hours. Many employers try and skirt the requirements. It's a new year so that means a new legal series on the morning show "Open". Today I began a series on discrimination. Most of the discrimination I will be discussing over the next few months deal with the workplace. Employment Discrimination laws seek to prevent discrimination based on race, sex, religion, national origin, physical disability, and age by employers.
