Today on "Open" I continued discussing "consumer fraud", in particular, "financial fraud" and the internet. Afterall, how many times are you asked to "purchase" a stock on the internet. The best advice I can give, if you are looking to invest in a particular stock or venture, is to reach out to the company directly and ask to see research on "product development". And don't trust anyone to do the research for you, not even your broker! Next week I will continue the series, the topic: debit cards, and the financial pitfalls.
Great live "BronxLegal" last night! Thanks to "BronxWorks" and "The Muslim Women's Institute For Research and Development" for coming on the show to discuss the Haitian relief efforts. The four guests were terrific, and I'm sure the viewers of the Bronx will make a much needed donation to either charity after watching the segment.

After being invited back to C.S. 67 to discuss school safety issues, last night I met with 20 parents in the gym. Brought back memories. Thank you to the ladies who organized the event: Crystal Pena, Jovana Russel, Nancy Cordero and Jessica Rodriquez. And yes, I promise I will be back to continue updating the parent's association on laws that protect it's members.

Today's "Open" show focused on the Haitian relief effort. I discussed the specific tips you should know before making a charitable donation. Unfortunately the climate is ripe for charity scams. Hopefully you will do your "due diligence" and find a reputable charity that is helping with the effort. Remember, never give cash. You want to make sure you have a paper trail.

Winter weather leads to winter travel and jammed packed airports. But just how safe are we from possible terror threats in the skies? During last nights "BronxLegal with David Lesch" we talked to David Boehm, Vice President of Operations for Security USA, Inc, and attorney Peter Tilem of Tilem and Campbell. A great show. Thanks to everyone.

It was nice to be back in the studio. New year, new legal topics. Today I thought "Copyright" was ripe for discussion. In particular, the common misconceptions concerning copyright laws. I commented on the mistaken beliefs many have regarding the use of another person's material. There are six common misperceptions. With a studio audience in the background, many on the set realized that they might be violating another person's copyright protections, even if accidentally.
