Bed bug infestations have been on the increase in recent weeks. These critters feed on the blood of animals including people and pets. They can survive for up to 18 months without feeding! This morning on "Open", I gave a mini lecture on your right to sue a landlord if your apartment is crawling with bed bugs. With the new law passed on August 31st, landlords in NY must now disclose to prospective tenants whether or not a building has the dreaded insect. My advice to the viewers, get to a hospital asap if you think you have been bitten. And make sure you are properly diagnosed as having a "bed bugs" bite. Not a "scabies" bite. Many a landlord has tried to shift responsibility by suggesting a tenant was bit by a different type of but. David Lesch Esq.
